Casa Guadalajara is one of the original Mexican restaurants in Old Town San Diego. It is owned by Diane Powers. Diane is famous for the Bazaar Del Mundo; Latin-themed gift stores that have been a landmark in Old Town for years. Casa Guadalajara is probably the best Mexican food restaurant in Old Town, and since it is located just outside of the Old Town Historic Park it is often less crowded than most Mexican restaurants. It features an imaginative menu with internationally acclaimed traditional and contemporary Mexican cuisine served in the ambiance of an old Spanish hacienda, with a gorgeous sunlit garden patio with beautifuly dressed waiters in traditional Mexican costumes. Casa Guadalajara is a spectacular restaurant, capturing the "Spirit of Mexico" at it's best. Casa Guadalajara has a great atmosphere with live strolling mariachi, and live music most nights and weekends. The menu has something for everyone and every taste. Dining ranges from simple south-of-the-border fare to more gourmet items like tequila lime shrimp and mango chipotle chicken. Casa Guadalajara can handle any event or even weddings with facilities to handle groups of 15 - 100.

Casa Guadalajara has been a long time favorite of my friends and I for years. The Margarita's are great and they always seem to add just a little more Tequila than most places. The chips and salsa are super tasty, so it is hard not to get completely stuffed on chips. Everything on this menu is amazing and the portions are huge while the price is very very affordable. The homemade flour tortillas were to die for and our server was great. He recommended several dishes, that we really enjoyed, we tried the seafood enchiladas. We enjoyed our meal to the sounds of local mariachi's; who I understand play here all the time.
